Day Three - M’dina

It is Friday, May 5th and it’s a beautiful morning.  I caught the sunrise.

Dave and I had a Hunter Douglas Business meeting from 9am to 10:30 am, so we grabbed some breakfast before heading to the meeting.  The hotel has a massive breakfast spread with just about everything you could imagine.

William and Crystal made it in safely last night.  While we were at our meeting, some of the group headed down to the water to take in the sun.

Alex, our driver picked us up at 12:30 pm to take us to M’dina.  Unfortunately my stomach was revolting so the rest of the group went without me and I rested for the day.

M’dina is a tiny, medieval city, enclosed in bastions, located on a large hilltop in the center of Malta. It was the old capital city of Malta, and with its narrow streets, few inhabitants and beautiful views over the island, it is truly a magical place to visit behind its fortified walls M’dina’s timeless beauty has been captivating, nobilities throughout its 4000 years of existence.

Today, with its massive walls and peaceful, shady streets, M'dina is often referred to as the Silent City, a nickname that becomes very appropriate after dark.

Malta‘s old capital is the island’s most perfectly preserved medieval treasure. The peace and tranquility is a joy to behold and along its quiet narrow streets and alleyways, you can almost touch the sense of history.

The Fontanella Tea Garden was recommended for lunch.  I think they enjoyed themselves there.  If you can get a seat on the roof, apparently it’s a beautiful
view.

Dinner at Madliena Lodge

I don’t have much more info about their day to report.  I do know parts of Game of Thrones was filmed in M’dina.  And I know some of them paid to go in the Cathedral but I do not have photos.

Thankfully our driver, Alex was able to come pick me up and then pick the group up and then drive us to Madliena Lodge where we treated Alex to a dinner.

After dinner we stopped by a corner shop to grab some waters and other items.  And then off to bed.  Tomorrow— Sailing.

  1. Sorry to hear you didn't get to enjoy this one with everyone. Believing you are feeling better now. Looks awesome. A walled city. I didn't even know those still existed. May towns in the OT were like that.
